Our hockey whānau come together yearly to share in tikanga through kapa haka, waiata and kai. Many of our players are new to their cultural practices and find this evening an enlightening, valuable experience.
During the evening the tournament selection team will announce the tāne and wāhine U21 NZ Maori representative teams, who will compete in the coming year.
The Herewini whānau taonga/trophy will also be presented to the outstanding junior tāne and wāhine hockey player of Māori descent at the NZ Māori Hockey National Hockey Tournament. The recipients will also attend the NZ Māori Awards.
The evening is also an opportunity to honour our Kaumātua and Life Members.
