Tai Uru Haupoi Māori would like to acknowledge all players, coaches, managers, delegates and whānau. We were certainly blessed to have hosted you all in our rohe of Taranaki, Whanganui, Manawatū and Horowhenua. Your presence was a significant factor in the success of the tournament. We also want to acknowledge the many volunteers, whānau support and sponsors. We continue to be grateful for your contribution to our tournament. Even though there were many ups and downs along the way, there were some great learnings too. To see everything come together in the end, filled us with an immense sense of pride. So it is with great satisfaction and gratitude that we share the highlights and achievements of this remarkable event.
The National Māori Hockey Tournament aimed to bring together rohe from across the motu to compete in a spirit of sportsmanship and whanaungatanga. From the outset, our organising committee worked tirelessly to ensure that every aspect of the tournament was meticulously planned and executed. The tournament, spanning 4 days, showcased an outstanding display of Māori hockey, skill and teamwork. 29 teams from 8 rohe competed fiercely for the coveted national wāhine and tāne titles, providing spectators with thrilling matches and unforgettable moments. The level of competition was exceptionally high, reflecting the dedication and talent of our Māori hockey players.
As we reflect on this achievement, let us carry forward the momentum and enthusiasm generated by the tournament to further promote and develop Māori hockey across Aotearoa.
Ngā mihi nui i roto i ngā manaakitanga o te runga rawa.
